Is Laxmi Remit AU a legal remittance service?

Yes. Laxmi Remit AU is a registered Australian business registered with AUSTRAC under the AML/CTF Act. We provide formal remittance services in accordance with applicable Australian regulatory requirements. We are not an informal channel, hawala, or hundi service. All transfers are conducted through regulated financial pathways.

This website is for information and promotional purposes only. All transfers are made through the Laxmi Remit AU mobile app, available on the App Store and Google Play. Download the app, register, complete KYC verification once, and you’re ready to send.

Yes. We are registered with AUSTRAC under the AML/CTF Act — Australia’s financial intelligence and regulatory authority for remittance providers.  Our compliance obligations include AML/CTF reporting and rigorous customer due diligence.

Most transfers are completed within 1–2 business days. Processing times may vary depending on your recipient’s bank, public holidays in either country, and whether additional verification is required. You can monitor your transfer’s progress in real time through the app.

To comply with Australian KYC regulations, you’ll need a valid government-issued photo ID — an Australian driver’s licence, or a passport from any country — along with proof of your Australian address. Verification is completed once in the app, and after that sending is straightforward every time.

Our exchange rate is based on real-time interbank market rates, to which we apply a transparent margin. This margin is shown clearly on the confirmation screen before you finalise any transfer. There are no hidden backend markups. Rates vary and are confirmed at time of transfer in the app.

Your money and data are protected through industry-standard security protocols, continuous transaction monitoring, and strict AML/KYC compliance procedures. We are registered with AUSTRAC under the AML/CTF Act and operate with full transparency so you always know where your money is.

Yes. We focus exclusively on the Australia-to-Nepal corridor. This specialisation allows us to deliver a better, more reliable, and more knowledgeable service for our community — so you’re choosing a partner, not just a platform.

Transfers may occasionally be subject to additional compliance review, which can cause delays. We will communicate with you if this occurs. You can contact our support team via the in-app chat or by emailing support@laxmiremit.com.au
